Dear Great Green Transportation Tune-Up participants,
Thank you so much for making our week a tremendous success! We were thrilled with the response to The Great Green Transportation Tune-Up.
We were very happy with the turnout at Saturday's Transportation Imagination Station downtown. Several hundred people came through to share their suggestions for future transportation priorities in our City, chat with the young engineers from UBC about the solar car they’re building, watch unicycle, tandem bike and Segway demonstrations, visit the Transit Future Bus, and look at the hybrid vehicles and scooters local auto dealers had on display.
The Bike, Bus and Boogie challenge also drew a lot of interest -- the rivalry between the first place electric bike rider, Bill Hunter, and and cyclist Donovan Cavers, who came in seconds later, was very entertaining. The challenge was also very informative -- the cars did not finish first in time, and certainly not when carbon emissions were factored in.
The Transit Treasure Hunt and the Green Your Transportation Pledge registrations exceeded our expectations. We hope that you had as much fun participating as we did organizing the events. We also want to thank those of you who took the time to write us the many thoughtful comments and suggestions we received. Your input is very much appreciated. We are pleased to announce the prize winners in these two week-long events:
So thanks again, everyone, for your enthusiasm and your willingness to give something new a try. Bit by bit, we are making changes in attitudes that will pay huge dividends down the line in the form of a healthy planet for all.
Finally, we'd like to acknowledge the important role that our sponsors played this week -- without them, it could not have happened. Please take the time to look at the attached sponsor sheet, and let them know you appreciate your support for this event next time you're in their businesses. A special thank you to those who functioned as Pit Stops.
We're not sure at this point if the event will run again next year, but if it does, we'll be looking for more volunteers. If you'd like to be a part of the Tune-Up team, give us a shout!
Take care, everyone, and keep up those healthy new habits!
With sincere appreciation,
The Tune-Up Team

What is it?
The Tune-Up is a week of activities that will give Kamloops residents lots of ways to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. By promoting vehicle efficiency, removing barriers to transit use, and providing fun ways for citizens to "test-drive" alternate modes, the Tune-Up will increase overall awareness of the issues and facilitate an eventual transition to a more sustainable transportation future.
How can you get involved? Lots of ways!
Why support The Great Green Transportation Tune-Up?
Greenhouse gas emissions need to come down around the world. Kamloops 350 believes it's time to "think globally, act locally." The Great Green Transportation Tune-Up will be a week of fun that will help residents become more familiar with their transportation options.
Please consider getting involved!
